Biography

My name is Brett Kuhn and I am announcing my candidacy for Boone County Commission. I have lived in Boone county all my life, and I have worked and raised a family here. My life and career have been an open book to my fellow citizens. I have been employed by Boone County Schools for 24 years and had the opportunity to leave, but I wanted to stay because I strive to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.

I am the son of Gene and Wilma Kuhn and the brother of Allen Duane (Vickie) Kuhn and Joan (Steve) Richards. I lived in Van until I was 2 and then moved with my family to Madison. I graduated from Scott High School in 1987 and then graduated from Marshall University in 1991. I taught at Sherman High School from 1994 to 2007. I currently teach and coach baseball at Scott High School, and as a teacher I believe that the youth in our county should be our top priority.
I have been married to Buffy Kuhn for 25 years. She has been a teacher with Boone County Schools for 26 years and currently teaches at Madison Middle School. We have two wonderful children, Bretta and Nathan. Bretta is a senior at West Virginia State University and Nathan is a junior at Scott High School. Together we all attend the Rock Creek Church of Christ.
